Get the HPV vaccine for free!

People living with HIV are at higher risk of developing HPV-related cancers, such as anal cancer and cervical cancer, compared to HIV negative people.

If you are a person living with HIV under the age of 46, Posithiva Gruppen can now offer you the HPV vaccine free of charge.

The vaccination will be provided by Doktor24. To get adequate protection, you need three doses of the vaccine, taken with an interval of two to six months. You need to take the first dose of vaccine no later than December 1, 2022. Find out where the vaccination clinics are located at www.doktor24.se/vaccin
PG has limited resources and can provide vaccinations for a limited number of people. The offer is valid until all “coupons” are taken.
To take advantage of the offer you need to be or become a member of Posithiva Gruppen (PG). Your personal data is not shared with anyone else.

Briefly on HPV and what Posithiva Gruppen is calling for
HPV stands for human papillomavirus, and is a sexually transmitted virus. Most people get one or different types of the virus at some point in their lives. Some strains of HPV may lead to cell changes in mucous membranes, which in the long run can lead to cancer.
HPV vaccination prevents infection by most of the HPV types that can cause cancer. Since 2020, all children in Sweden are offered free HPV vaccination in middle school. The HPV vaccine works best if given before a person is becoming sexually active. However, evidence suggests that some groups, such as people living with HIV up to the age of 45, men who have sex with men and transgender people could benefit from the vaccination even later in life.
Posithiva Gruppen is calling for a national program offering free HPV vaccines to people who are at higher risk of developing HPV-related cancer. PG is working towards this together with with Sexperterna, RFSL Stockholm, RFSL Ungdom, RFSU, RFSU Stockholm, Hiv-Sverige, Riksförbundet Noaks Ark and Noaks Ark Stockholm.
