Everyone living with HIV has the right to psychosocial support within HIV care. You can see a counsellor at your infection clinic. The counsellors can provide support in areas such as anxiety, crisis management and telling family members about your HIV. They can also provide social guidance and support for contact with authorities such as the Swedish Social Insurance Agency, as well as referrals to psychiatric services and medical centres.
Posithiva Gruppen offers so-called peer support. This means receiving support from someone who shares your experience. Those providing support are people with different experiences, backgrounds, ages and genders, but with the common denominator of living with HIV. The support sessions take place on your terms and the counsellors are bound by professional secrecy. Read more about the support services. Posithiva Gruppen also offers support in dealing with the authorities and the healthcare sector, as well as legal advice.
